Georgia City Bans Saggy Pants

Posted: Updated:

The city of Moultrie, in south central Georgia, has a new ordinance on the books ...no saggy pants allowed.

The ban states that pants can't hang lower than 3 inches off your waist....and exposed skin or underwear is not allowed.

Some residents support the ban.

Jimmy Taylor, a Moultire resident, "When I go out to eat somewhere, I don't want see nobody's underwear. There just ain't nothing pretty about that."

Joanna Lee, another resident, said, "It should make a lot of people see you don't have $25 to waste on pulling up your pants."

Others say the ban on sagging pants...mainly aimed at teenagers in the town...is really an issue that needs to be addressed by parents...not a city ordinance.

There's a $25 fine for a first offense and possibly 40 hours of community service.

Repeat offenders face fines up to $200.
