A Robeson County mother and two of her young children were killed in a fiery crash near the town of Tar Heel this past weekend, the Robesonian newspaper reported.
The mother, Maria Ester Morales Garcia, 25, was driving a 1999 Plymouth van that collided with a tractor trailer just a few miles from the Bladen County town, according to the newspaper.
Two of three children in the vehicle were killed, the Robesonian reported. The van burst into flames after being hit, the newspaper said, citing the N.C. Highway Patrol.
According to the paper, 3-year-old William Jimenez Morales and 8-year-old Jean Michael Morales died.
The newspaper obtained an N.C. Highway Patrol report that said the crash happened when the driver of the van pulled in front of the tractor trailer at Purdie-Hall Road and Chicken Foot Road.
