UPDATE:Steve Chalker, the Director of Public Relations for Jefferson Energy Cooperative, says all power outages have been restored as of 6:40 a.m. Tuesday Morning.
More than 600 people are without power in south Richmond County and north Burke County.
According to an official at Jefferson Energy Cooperative, it happened Monday night around 8 p.m.
Officials say during the storms Monday night, lightning struck a large transformer at a south Richmond County substation that's located off of US Highway 1 between Augusta and Wrens.
Officials say they will have to bring a crane in to replace the transformer. They hope to have power restored by early afternoon.
Please note that ALL power outages have been restored as of 6:40 a.m.
