Ken Liberty was getting the lawn work done early. Sunday is Father's Day...he knows what makes a good one. "You visit with your family, you have a nice time, and enjoy yourself," he said.
Dads do a lot: they mow, and another dad duty is taking out the trash. "I take out everything here," said Ken with a laugh.
"If it's between mom and dad, dad's going to take out the trash. We were just born that way, we're trash taker outers," says Jim Coleman.
On Father's Day, or about any day, it's always dad's main chore. He loves to do it, take out the garbage, but around here...this for dad is like nails across the chalkboard.
Because dad is getting the trash out, you can see that across the streets of Augusta. But, what we've seen the last two weeks is a lot of dad's taken out trash is not being picked up.
"The last couple of weeks have been questionable," said Liberty.
Ronnie Knox sees the overflowing trash cans and admits it can grate on a guy. "Kind of yeah," he said.
"I'm disappointed," said Liberty. When asked, he was mad.
So, by not picking up the trash, we've disappointed dad and diluted his dad duty, and have hit him where it hurts...in his trash can.
"No, we're going to give them a couple of months to work it out. They're new guys, we'll be patient for a while," said Coleman, not buying the premise that by not picking up trash the city has dissed his work.
Dads are patient, but they still want the garbage gone. So, come on Augusta...do it for dad.
