McCrory sends message to Heels, Pack ahead of College World Series

RALEIGH, N.C. -

Gov. Pat McCrory recorded a message Wednesday for the baseball teams of N.C. State and North Carolina as they make their way to Omaha for the College World Series.

McCrory congratulated the Wolfpack and Tar Heels on their success and for putting him in the spirit.

"The players, along with their coaches, Elliott Avent and Mike Fox, have been on a long journey all season," McCrory said. "And now a new journey begins in Omaha.

McCrory starts the message by referencing photos of him playing catch in front of the state Capitol earlier in the week.

A liberal advocacy group said McCrory was "playing catch with his chief of staff" when children attempted to deliver 16,000 signed petitions to his office Monday ahead of Moral Monday demonstrations.

McCrory's office contests the governor was in a meeting with an elected representative at the time the petitions were delivered.
