Should Free Tickets Get Commissioners Off Ethics Panel

Posted: Updated:
Augusta, GA -

When it comes to ethics in the Augusta Commission, this is just the ticket.

Commissioner Marion Williams is saying that Alvin Mason and Mayor Pro-Tem Corey Johnson should step down from the commission's ethics sub-committee.

That's because each accepted tickets from a city contractor Heery International for- pro sporting events in Atlanta.

"If you're in question how can you make a decision on somebody else who may not be in question not to say anybody did anything those people ought to recues themselves they ought to be man enough to say hey I ought to step aside I ought not to be part of this," says Williams.

As we first reported yesterday, commissioners have not violated the city ethics code, which specifically says elected officials -can- accept tickets as a courtesy.
