House Republicans plan to have their version of a North Carolina state government budget finished by the end of next week. That would give them and Senate GOP leaders two weeks to attempt to negotiate a final deal before the new fiscal year begins July 1.
Speaker Thom Tillis told colleagues Monday the House budget proposal should be debated and voted on by the full chamber June 13 and 14. Senior budget writer Rep. Nelson Dollar of Cary says the GOP schedule has subcommittees completing their portions of the budget by the end of this week.
The Senate passed its budget May 23.
House and Senate budget-writers would like to get the two-year plan to Gov. Pat McCrory for him to sign into law by the end of the month.
