Overnight thunderstorms have caused flash flooding in parts of the CSRA. Doppler radar estimates that portions of Richmond, Columbia, Edgefield, and Aiken Counties have received 4-8" of rain. This has lead to road closures and some evacuations.
North Augusta Public safety has informed News Channel 6 that some residents of Willow Wick Apartments & The Grove Apartment complex are being evacuated due to rising water. Reports are coming in that water has risen to waist-level in the parking lot.
Here is a list of various road closures in the region:
100 yds. Northwest of West Five Notch @ Pisgah is closed (Vehicles can make turn at traffic light at intersection)
West Martintown Road west of I-20 is closed.
Bergan Road @ Brighton Place Apartments is closed.
Gregory Lake Road @ at the lake is also closed.
Duncan Road is closed at Rumley Road.
Traffic is moving, but cones are out for shoulder washout at Sudlow and Ascauga Lake Roads.
North Augusta is also dealing with numerous power outages as a result of the storms. Emergency Preparedness and the Red Cross have been activated and are on the scene assisting with evacuations.
