A decision on the possibility of having a high-speed rail service come through the Augusta area could come as soon as Tuesday.
Georgia transportation officials will hold a public meeting to discuss the proposed rail on Tuesday, June 4 in Suwanee, Georgia.
That high-speed rail that would start in Atlanta, GA and then make its way through Charlotte, NC to Washington, D.C.
Officials are looking at two different routes that have the rail running right through the Garden City.
One of those routes is the CSX right-of-way between Atlanta and Augusta. The other route is the Norfolk Southern right-of-way between Augusta and Charlotte via Columbia, SC.
