Augusta commissioner Marion Williams is continuing his push for a new pedestrian walkway in downtown Augusta.
Williams met with local business owners and other city leaders today.
Williams told the group that the plan will create an elevated pedestrian area on Broad between 8th and 9th streets and that will make it easier to get around downtown.
"It adds greenspace, calm traffic. The only concerns are it may be too high, and there was enough money for upkeep," said DDA Director, Margaret Woodward.
The estimated $4 million project would be funded by transportation sales tax money and if approved would be ready in the next 2 years.
