Former WJBF Anchor John Lites Passes Away

WJBF News Channel 6 is mourning the loss of one of our former family members.

John Lites worked for WJBF, anchoring the early morning news from 1968 to 1970. He later delivered the news for at 11:00 p.m. from 1970 to 1976. At that time, he left on-air work to become a behind the scenes contributor for WJBF, working in the Advertising department.

John also served as a volunteer firefighter with the City of Aiken, which led to his second career. Once he left WJBF, he eventually earned the rank of Sergeant with the Aiken Department of Public Safety.

John died Saturday, May 25th at this residence. He was 76-years-old.

John was married to his wife Margie for 55 years. Funeral services will be held privately, but you can sign the guestbook for Mr. Lites here.
