Do you have good social media manners?

Mind your social media manners, or you might get unfriended! Mind your social media manners, or you might get unfriended!
DUNEDIN, FL (WFLA) -

Thanks to social media, life is one long never-ending conversation.  Just like in real life, bad manners can be very annoying.

Social Media expert Deborah Shane of Dunedin says she has unfriended more people in the last six months than ever before.  She says she's tired of people with bad "netiquette," as she calls it.

Shane spends a lot of time online, and has grown less patient with some people's tactics.

"Actually what opened my eyes is the presidential election from last year. I had all these friends who were commenting about the presidential candidates and some of them were just going way, way overboard with what they were saying, on both sides," said Shane.

Shane is now selective about who she socializes with on social media networks. If they use profanity, tend to be negative or if they spew hatred, they are out, says Shane.

On the flip side, Shane also has "netiquette" rules she encourages. They include points of view that are intelligent, informative and thoughtful. Also, generational inclusiveness that blends all ages and stages of life.

As far as humor, Shane says appropriate humor is truly funny.

A big social media "no no" for Shane:  sales spam.  She says it's not cool to try to sell people things on their Facebook or LinkedIn accounts.

Melanie and Jeffrey Cornwell should have been getting a tax break for years on part of the homestead property in Dunedin they call their "little piece of Heaven." But due to a mistake at the Pinellas Property Appraiser's Office, they won't see any rebates for previous taxes, just a break on future tax bills.
