BREAKING ON 6: Press Conference Held Concerning Discovery Of Charred Bodies

A press conference was held Wednesday afternoon with Richmond County Sheriff Richard Roundtree with an update on the investigation of the Tuesday discovery of three charred bodies in Hephzibah.

Here are some points of information that came out of that press conference:

Officials say they received calls from individuals unable to reach family members.

A welfare check was performed and a crime scene was set up at a home in the Pinnacle Place neighborhood

A person of interest has been taken into custody by the Richmond County Sheriff's Office. No charges have been filed at this time, as more evidence is expected to be gathered in this case.

Sheriff's Office officials say there are dozen of people they still want to interview.

The identities of the bodies found have still not been confirmed.

No questions concerning the identities of the bodies were answered, and officials say they won't answer questions about cause of death or conditions of the bodies

Officials say there is no truth to the identity of a person connected to the deaths that is being discussed on social media.

Officials say putting the information out in a timely manner made the difference in this case.

Officials say anyone in the public that has info directly connected to case should contact the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

Officials say, under Georgia law, multiple deaths call for the death penalty, but this case is far from that point, at this time.

Officials cannot confirm if the three people found dead were a father, mother, and son.

Officials are tyring to confirm vehicles used through forensic evidence.

Officials say there is no evidence to support multiple suspects, and they do not feel there is a threat to the public.

The person of interest was taken into custody around 9:00 p.m. or 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
