Fight For Cancer at Aiken's Relay For Life Turns Violent

Aiken, SC -

A night to fight cancer ended with a fight of a different kind.

Hundreds of people gathered at a Relay For Life event at South Aiken High School.

Investigators in Aiken say a rowdy group of about 15 people assaulted 2 women.

It happened around 10 last night.

Officers say someone punched an 18-year-old woman in the face. She was later taken to the hospital but is now ok.

Around 20 minutes later, at the luminary ceremony, another group became rowdy and boisterous, and started cursing at officers.

Investigators arrested 18-year-old Mikal Sturdivant and charged him with disorderly conduct.

Police are still looking for another suspect. They haven't identified him yet but believe he is 18 to 20 years old and could be from the New Ellen ton area.

They're not sure if both groups are connected.

If you have any information, you can contact the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
