Hillsborough boy hit, dragged by car

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

Deputies say a 14-month-old boy was taken to the hospital after a car hit him and dragged him almost ten feet.

It happened in front of a home on Cobia Drive around 6:30 PM on Friday.

Jaike Young was playing outside with other children, while being supervised by family members.  Investigators say a vehicle stopped in front of the home to drop off a passenger.

As the car was pulling away, deputies say a child threw a rock in front of the car and Jaike ran to get it.  Jaike was below the driver's line of sight, and the driver let off of the brakes.

The vehicle rolled about 8-10 feet, dragging Jaike underneath, before coming to a stop.

The child was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Hillsborough deputies say the driver will not be cited.
