TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Drivers had to avoid the area near 21st Street and 8th Avenue in Ybor City in Tampa because history was on the move there Thursday morning. Two historic houses were moving into the neighborhood.

Crews spent the overnight hours moving the former home of Al Lopez. He's the first major league baseball player from Tampa. The home will become a baseball museum.

The second home will be renovated and re-purposed into a law enforcement museum. The houses are two of 64 relocated as part of the Florida Department of Transportation mitigation plan.

Stay with wfla.com, we will let you know how the reniovation process is going for these houses.
