TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

A vehicle crashed into an electric pole near the intersection of the 56th Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Tampa Tuesday morning causing the intersection to close.

Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the crash. They told us, a Ford F150 going south on 56th Street hit a Toyota Camry traveling eastbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The Camry then smashed into the Tampa Electric pole.

The pole broke in half and fell on the roadway. TECO crews reported to the scene as well as Florida Department of Transportation responders.

The Ford driver Clark Benson, 72, of Tampa was not injured. Eriaius Bentley, 20, who was driving the Camry, and his passenger Gwendolyn House, 41, were transported to St. Joseph's Hospital with complaints of pain.

HCSO deputies opened the intersection after a few hours after the repair crews fixed up the damages.
