North Augusta city leaders are back from the Greenville, South Carolina baseball stadium where they took in a game and got a feel for how Project Jackson could impact the community.
Mayor Lark Jones says it is important to go to similar sites instead of just reading research. He says he paid attention to lights, traffic, and the bustling businesses. Seeing the Greenville setup gives him hope about Project Jackson, he says.
"I asked which came first the chicken or the egg," Jones says. "I asked, 'Did you build the stadium because this area was being revived or did the stadium revive the area?' He said the stadium revived the area."
Jones says North Augusta is obviously somewhat different given that they're starting with an undeveloped area.
