UPDATE: Father and Daughter Dead In Aiken Fire; Arson Suspected

Posted: Updated:
Aiken County, SC -

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that the fatal fire had multiple points of origin:  That means that the fire ignited in several separate areas of the home.  That is an indicator of arson, so they are continuing a criminal investigation.

A two year old girl and her 28 year old father, Dunkan Baker, died in an Aiken County house fire at 331 Old Tory Trail in Montmorenci.

The fire was reported by a driver around 10 AM Saturday morning.  The child was pronounced dead at the scene.  Baker was taken to Doctors Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3 PM Saturday afternoon.  Both died from burns and smoke inhalation.

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office says the fire is suspicious and they are conducting an arson investigation.  Autopsies will be conducted in Newberry, SC Sunday morning.
