Reward Offered In Riverwalk Attack

Posted: Updated:

An anonymous donor is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in conviction in last Friday's attack of a couple on Riverwalk in Augusta, according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

27 year old Wesley Spires and 25 year old Ashley Solesbee were sitting on a park bench on Riverwalk behind Fort Discovery, when two men armed with either a baseball bat or aluminum pipe approached them, beat them, and robbed them.

Spires remains hospitalized.  Solesbee was released from the hospital Tuesday.

Lieutenant Calvin Chew, with the Sheriff's Office, said Wednesday that if an arrest is not made within 60 days, and a conviction does not occur within 24 months, the reward is null and void.

Investigators would like anyone with information to call the Richmond County Sheriff's Office at 706-821-1080.
