SC Highway Patrol and Aiken County deputies are working a fatal accident on Storm Branch Road, near the Retreat subdivision. That's off Pine Log Road in Aiken. Crews got the call shortly before 6 this evening.

Investigators say that 56 year old Wanda Rhoad was pronounced dead on the scene, and 49 year old Kenneth Dixon died shortly after his arrival to the Georgia Regents Medical Center Emergency Unit in Augusta, GA.

Another passenger was admitted shortly after and his status is unknown. Investigators say that alcohol containers were discovered in the vehicle.

Coroner's Report:  A single vehicle crash in Aiken County SC has resulted in the deaths of two Beech Island residents, and the injury of another. 56 year old Wanda G. Rhoad of Beech Island was the driver of the late model Chevrolet truck that was involved in the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her front seat passenger, 49 year old Kenneth Dixon was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the GRU Emergency Dept. in Augusta GA. A rear seat passenger was admitted to GRU however his status is unknown at this time. The trio were traveling northbound on Storm Branch Rd in Aiken County when Ms. Rhoad lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a tree. A witness said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed. Alcohol containers were discovered in the vehicle. The two deceased died from multiple body trauma. Toxicology is pending on the driver of the vehicle. Mr. Dixon was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. SCHP is investigating the crash along with the Aiken County Coroner's Office.
