Louisville, KY (WJBF) -- Palace Malice is a 25-1 shot to bring home the first Kentucky Derby win for Cot Campbell and Aiken's Dogwood Stable. But Campbell is confident his 3-year-old colt can give it a good run for the roses.
Campbell says Palace Malice may be coming together at just the right time. He says he can't have any bad luck and win the derby. Palace Malice will start in the 10th position Saturday. There are now 19 horses in the race after Black Onyx was scratched Friday morning.
Palace Malice is the 8th horse Cot Campbell has entered in the derby. Campbell's best career derby finish is 2nd.
Palace Malice is being trained by Todd Pletcher, who's training a derby record tying 5 horses in this race. Veteran jockey Mike Smith, who has 1 Kentucky Derby win in 18 starts, will be riding Campbell's horse Saturday.
Post time for the race is 6:24 p.m.
