A Richmond County Middle School parent says 2 students bullied her son at school last week.
The alleged incident took place at Sego Middle School last Friday.
A spokesperson for the Richmond County Board of Education says the school is investigating this alleged bullying incident but will not comment on any specifics because it is an ongoing investigation.
Bullying is topic that's being discussed in classrooms across the country.
"I want an example to be made. Bullying is something serious," said Twana Jacobs.
For this Richmond County parent, Twana Jacobs, it's an issue that hits close to home.
"He was assaulted in class. 2 boys assaulted him – an 8th grader and 7th grader, tied his hands down. They told him to be quiet and not holler for help and give up his money."
Jacobs says she wants to know why his teacher left the class unsupervised.
"The kids were in the class saying here comes the teacher, and when the teacher walked in, my son told them him to go to the office. When I came to the office, the principal told me we suspended the boys," said Jacobs.
Jacobs says her 12-year-old son suffers from ADHD, and Aspergers syndrome.
"They know what is going on with my son. He is very ill. Where was the teacher, where were parents, where was anyone who could help him?" said Jacobs.
Jacobs says that lack of communication from the school is what makes her furious.
"I don't the school did enough, I don't think the BOE did enough. It is an on going problem."
Jacobs has withdrawn her son from Sego Middle and plans to take the issue to a tribunal.
"When my child leaves me, and comes here for 8 hours, these people are supposed to be his parents. If they can't protect him, what are they here for?"
We tried to talk to the school superintendent earlier today but we have not yet heard back.
We will continue to follow up on this story to get you answers about the school's bullying policy, and how long it takes for the to complete an investigation.
