Augusta, GA -

WJBF News Channel 6 is proud to be stopping in Evans Friday for "Your Hometown Evans".

For the first time ever, Jennie Montgomery and Mary Morrison will be anchoring together at 5pm, 5:30pm, and 6pm. Also joining them will be our Courtney Elledge, George Myers, and Matt Zahn.

We will be broadcasting live from Riverside Park and Boat Launch, located on Hardy McManus Road.

The Park will be the site for The Benderdinker, which is a kayak/canoe concert and local fest for the whole family. The event will be held Saturday, April 27th.

The theme is: "It's a Concert on the Water!" Its a scenic, spring morning paddle on Betty's Branch and the Savannah River. Paddlers will come upon pontoon boats with local musicians playing at various locations along the two-hour route. Local foods will be handed out along the route as well.  Bring your own mason jar for refills of locally brewed sweet tea and spring water. The event will be followed by an afternoon festival on land.  Musicians on and off the water include; Whiskey Gentry, Mason Jars, Ramblin Fevers, Tara Scheyer and many more!

Founder/Event Chair Kristina Williams notes: "It's really an all-day jam session of local bands and local foods, on-and-off the water. Its melding two of my favorite things, Slow Foods and Silent Sports."

Restaurants featuring locally-grown fresh ingredients will greet the paddlers upon return. There will be paddleboard demos, as well as kayak vendors on site.

Check-in starts at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. The paddle event starts at 10:00 a.m. The local fest starts at noon.

On-land activities include farm animals, crafts for kids, local arts & crafts to purchase and live music all day.

Pre-register online for kayaking. The price is $35 per boat and includes a free t-shirt and other goodies. Kayak rentals are available at an additional cost. Entrance to the local fest is free. Register online at www.benderdinker.com.

Proceeds from the event benefit local nonprofits: Augusta Locally Grown, The Savannah Riverkeeper, GRU's Camp Sweet Life.
