MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -

A young woman was charged with felony child neglect in Myrtle Beach Wednesday after police say she hurt 2 children spanking them with a belt and switch.

The incident happened around 12:25 pm Monday at a home in  the 800 block of Canal St, Myrtle Beach Police said in a report.

A young boy and girl were both hit in the incident, police said. The girl was hit with a belt and the boy was hit with a switch, the children told police.

Both children had "apparent minor injury" according to the police report.

"Based on their injuries, there is reason to believe that child abuse did occur," police wrote.

After police obtained an arrest warrant, Winter Shavon Harts, age 22, of Canal Street was charged Wednesday afternoon with Children/Legal Custodian, Unlawful Neglect Of Child, police said.

DSS was advised of the situation by police.
