Accused Sex Offender Turns Himself In

UPDATE:  The man Richmond County investigators were looking for in connection with a sexual assault has turned himself in.

Johnny Lee (or Lorenza) Baker was booked into the Richmond County jail for the following charges:

§  Rape

§  Aggravated Sodomy

§  Aggravated Battery

§  Kidnapping

§  Burglary 1st Degree


A Richmond County man is being sought by the Richmond County Sheriff's Office for allegedly assaulting a man and sexually assaulting a woman.

Investigators tell us, on March 20th at 2:30 a.m., the Richmond County Sheriff's Office received a call to Mars Trailer Park located in the 3600 block of Deans Bridge Road in reference to a Home Invasion.

During the course of the investigation, investigators learned that a male victim was physically assaulted and a female victim was sexually assaulted.

Investigators say the assailant is identified as 38-year-old Johnny Lee Baker III, also from Mars Trailer park.

Baker is described as being 6'1" tall, 195 pounds, and short black hair.

Baker is wanted on charges of Rape, Kidnapping, Burglary First Degree, Aggravated Battery, and Aggravated Sodomy.

Baker is currently a registered Sex Offender in Richmond County.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is now asking for the public's assistance in locating Johnny Lee Baker III. Anyone with any information on Baker's whereabouts is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 706-821-1080. Callers may remain anonymous.
