20 Years Of Music Leads To A Star For The Backstreet Boys

Hollywood, CA -

For twenty years, the Backstreet Boys have been making music together, and, two days after celebrating a milestone anniversary, the group was honored with their very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The group, consisting of members Brian Littrell, AJ McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, and Kevin Richardson, received their star Monday morning in Hollywood. It's been seventeen years since they released their first album. Since then the group has sold more than 130 million albums worldwide.

Known for their tight, five-part harmonies - the Backstreet Boys acknowledge that their fans have gotten them to where they are today. Their dedication to those fans was the reason that one fan was given the opportunity to speak at the Walk of Fame ceremony.

Monday's ceremony came on the heels of a special celebration in Los Angeles Saturday night. That evening, the Backstreet Boys - joined by their fans - looked back on their twenty years of music. They also previewed eight tracks from their forthcoming album and gave a preview of their documentary that will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January before heading to theatres.

Their album - expected to be released later this year - will be the first album with all five members since their "Never Gone" album in 2005. Following that CD release and tour, Kevin Richardson left the group to pursue other opportunities. The remaining four members went on to release two more albums, always stating that the door was open for Richardson to return. Last summer Richardson took his fellow bandmates up on their offer, and the group announced quintet would be reunited.

The day was summed up with these words by the group to their fans, "We love you, this is for you. We wouldn't be here without you."
