Angus Spires was completing his mission for comfort food at Reid's Grocery Store in Warrenville, South Carolina. "Snacks is what I got, snacking," Angus said.
Shoppers know in troubling times you can find solace at the grocery store.
"When I think of comfort food...macaroni and cheese," says Sunshine White, of Aiken County.
Of course macaroni and cheese. I'm going to get the family size, which serves two and a half. Better get get another on...
"Ice cream," says Ethel Ramsey.
there's lots of choices when it comes to ice cream, but with a name like Snickerdoodle, it's got to be good.
There's some peace and harmony over in hot foods. What's on the menu, making this day a little better?
"Meat loaf, rice, collards," said one man in the deli section.
That's comfort food, and I'm wondering if he would be willing to share. After all, we are all going through these troubling times together.
"Of course not," he said.
"My favorite is the chicken tenders," said Jerry Goodwin, saying he was in search of comfort food as well.
There is a tremendous selection of comfort food at the store. You could even get rice cakes. No sorry, taking little comfort in that selection.
"Oreo cookies," says Nancy Garlick, "but the mint ones, has to be has to be mint," she said.
So, the last few days haven't been so sweet, but you can ease a little bit of the sadness.
