WJBF News Channel 6 is teaming up with a local running group to help the victims and their families affected by the Boston Marathon tragedy.
On Saturday morning at the downtown Augusta Market, Triple 8 is hosting a special "Run for Boston". Triple 8 group run leader Heather DiCicco is one of the organizers of the race.
The 2-point-5 mile run marks the time the first bomb went off in Boston at 2:50 p.m.
"Runners are a real, good group of people," said DiCicco. "Any tragedy is horrible, but to see children, spectators watching their mother and father finish in the Boston Marathon of all things be dismembered or killed...it's just a terrorist attack...it's horrible. What can you do rather than fly up there and help them yourself? We can organize something here, get out and run and bring something positive and hopefully send them some good feelings and money hopefully."
The event is free and open to the public. Triple 8 will gladly take donations that will be sent to the victims and families of the attack. If you can't make the Run for Boston on Saturday, you can still make a donation! Please mail a check to:
