Runners in Augusta Honor Those Hurt, Lost in Boston Marathon Bombing

Augusta, GA -

In honor of those lost and hurt in the Boston Marathon, a small group of runners in Augusta decided to hold a special run at the Augusta Canal Monday evening.

The group ran 2.5 miles to mark the time the bombs went off in Boston during the marathon.

Some of the runners who showed up didn't even know each other before the run.

"Absolutely. You know, when one runner needs help…even on a trail or in a run you'll see people stop and help them despite them trying to make their personal best. People are just there to help,  I saw that some of the runners continued on after the marathon and ran to the hospital and donated blood. That is the kind of community you are talking about," says Kristen Lovell, of Evans.
