CHESTER, S.C. (AP) - A Chester mother has been charged with unlawful neglect toward a child after police say she accidentally ran over her 1-year-old daughter.
Chester police say 23-year-old Amber Johnson told them she was working on her SUV Wednesday. Johnson said she had the hood propped up when she moved the truck to a different spot and struck her daughter.
The girl was knocked to the ground. Johnson kept driving until people nearby got her attention.
Johnson drove the girl to a hospital, where she was diagnosed with a broken arm and burn marks. The baby was then taken by helicopter to a Charlotte hospital for more treatment.
Authorities say Johnson regularly takes medication but said she hadn't had any before the accident.
It wasn't known if Johnson had an attorney.
