Richmond County investigators said a stolen tow truck was involved in a shooting and several accidents Wednesday morning.
The tow truck was stolen from North Augusta, SC. Investigators say a pedestrian, who knew the truck was stolen, saw the truck being driven near the intersection of Twiggs Street and Nicolas Street shortly before noon on Wednesday. They said the pedestrian tried to stop the driver, and suffered a leg injury in the proces. At some point, someone fired shots at the tow truck driver, hitting him in the back. Investigators would not confirm whether the pedestrian fired those shots.
Investigators say after the shots were fired, the driver of the tow truck drove off, and hit several more vehicles.
Both the pedestrian and driver of the tow truck were taken to a hospital. Investigators did not say whether either of the men will be charged.
