Courtney Elledge reporting, "Badges, Egg Salad and Green Jackets, it's the Masters A to Z by Julie Ferris, a children's novel teaching this… Augusta National's rich history that many people may never get to experience."

The idea to create a children's novel teaching the a-z of the Masters stemmed from a conversation with her little girl… who had never been to the course.

Author, Julie Ferris says, "My daughter asked, where did daddy go today, and I told her. She said, "Was she there all day, and I said yes!" The she asked where he ate. I explained the clubhouse.  She said what does the house look like?"

The Thomson native knew she wanted to teach the rich history of  Augusta National Golf Club to children.

"I also want to inspire them to watch or play the game of golf, and also let them know that anyone can be a writer. I didn't go to a special school it took a lot of hard work and dedication. It's been successful so I hope to inspire some of them to be writers also," says Ferris.

The book is a big success in the Southeast—but it's an even bigger hit in her daughter's classroom.

Daughter, Kathryn Ferris says, " I didn't really know what the Masters was, and when I asked my mom. Once I saw it I realized what a big deal  to go, and I went last year and it was really fun.

So before you take your kids on that magical journey through Amen Corner, brush up on your Masters A-to-Z's…and you might want to start with the letter Q.

Kathryn Ferris explains, "Try to be quiet while they're golfing." Kathryn's  brother, Rob, also has some advice for some Masters first-timers.

Son Rob Ferris explains, "I would say try an egg salad sandwich, I ate one last year and it was delicious. I actually ate another one."

Courtney Elledge reporting, "And here is it is…E for egg salad sandwich. A sandwich that is so delicious and it will only cost you a dollar-fifty."
