Seleste Trent doesn’t like the spotlight, she lets her cooking do the talking for her. And it’s her incredible work in the kitchen that helps feed hungry children in Augusta. Trent’s friends love her for how much work and passion she puts into each meal. Our Chris Kane has more on why Seleste is this month’s Giving Your Best Award Winner.
Karon Williamson, Giving Your Best Nominator: “I love to see people use the talents that god has given them for our community to make it better.”
When it comes to volunteers at Hope for Augusta, Karon Williamson knows she has a keeper in Seleste Trent.
Karon Williamson: “I watched her every week tirelessly..put time and effort into meals she serves for these children. And her ministry is so important to our downtown neighborhood and the children really appreciate it.”
For the past couple of years, Seleste Trent has been cooking meals for inner city children every Thursday night at Heritage Academy.
Rick Keuroglian, Hope For Augusta Ministry: “Seleste was coming around and she’s like, “Why don’t you let me help you with the food since we were just buying pizza for the kids. We start with pizzas and then she’s given them full course meals and she’s keeping us under budget, which is amazing. She not only buys food, she prepares food, stores food and serves the food. So she does it all and with a great smile on her face.”
Where does the magic happen?
Seleste Trent, May’s Giving Your Best Winner : “In my small kitchen at my house. I just prepare it..take it to the church and put it in the refrigerator then since its summer…we grill whole summer. In the winter, we cook in church’s ovens. Kids just started coming and more kids started coming and I said ok. And Rick is like..it’s only going to get bigger and I said OK and I cook for 130 people to be on the safe side. I love it..I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.”
