The Associated Press is reporting that former Georgia State Schools Superintendent Linda Schrenko is out of federal prison.
Schrenko, who is originally from Columbia County, was convicted in 2006 of embezzling money from the Georgia Department of Education to use in her 2002 gubernatorial campaign...which she ultimately lost.
The AP is quoting a Federal Bureau of Prisons spokesperson, who says Schrenko was released Wednesday, and will serve the remaining 5-and-a-half months of her sentence on home confinement.
