You can tell great things are happening the minute you walk into Rasheeda Usry's classroom.
"Even growing up, I always wanted to be 'the teacher'. And just my love for children," she says.
Her 4th graders feel that passion and work hard for Mrs. Usry.
She tells us, "We're working on a math program called accelerated math. The kids work on assignments based on objectives assigned. And those objectives are assigned based on the levels they're on so that they progress at their own speed."
Of course, she can't do this alone.
"I have a very strong support system. I have students that love me, most importantly. I have parents that love me, not only my parents, but the parents of my students. They love m, they support me, and we're all a team."
A team that gives Mrs. Usry the opportunity to keep pursuing her lifelong dream. A dream of teaching where the rewards just keep coming.
"It just brightens my heart everyday to see the smiling faces. They love me, I love them, it shows. When they're here with me, I know they're safe and I do all that I can to make sure they learn everything that they need."
