Jennifer Cooney knew she'd won the Golden Apple Award when we announced it to a packed cafeteria.
We knew how much her students and colleagues loved her when we witnessed their reaction.
"My senior year of high school I did a teacher cadet course and had my first chance to work with students. Until then I was a business major and decided to change my major and go into early childhood. The children and God made me do it", she says.
Now God gets her through each day.
"One day at a time. One prayer at a time."
Ms. Cooney also heavily leans on her co-workers to get the job done.
She says, "Couldn't do it without them. I love them and I wouldn't be the teacher I am without my first grade team and without such a wonderful staff here at Warrenville Elementary."
