Redneck Olympics Held In Maine

Three words describe this weekend's summer games...beer, mud and..."Wooooooo!"

Hundreds of people came out for the summer fun known as the Redneck Olympics.

Nicole Bernard, spectator: Why did we come here? For Yummy! For Yummy!"

Chris Marine, reporting: "What's that mean?"

Bernard: "That's his name."

Marine: "Oh."

Nicole is from Buckfield, Maine and besides coming for Yummy, they came for tire-burning.

Spectator: "Roast them, roast those tires!!!"

Not as much tire-burning as tire-popping...

Marine: "That was quite a pop there."

Roland "Yummy" Raubeson, Redneck Olympics participant: "That burned the tire right off there."

Besides tire-popping, there also the mud-runs, where drivers go as fast as they can to get through about a couple hundred feet of muck. Driver Dennis Damon says this was the main reason why he came.

Dennis Damon, driver: "There's good people, good times and abuse on vehicles, that's about it."

For others, just watching the event was good enough...

Justin Richardson, spectator: "Watch some trucks go through the mud, that's the best part of the Redneck Olympics."

Now, if truck-driving isn't your fancy, maybe the Tire Beer Trot is your forte...

Jamie Hart, Tire Beer Trot participant: "You have to run the end of the tires, if you still, if they OK you at the end, you have to drink one full cup and then if you come back through to this end and if you still have a cup, you have to drink it, so whoever.. wins, should be interesting. Will be fun."

The non-stop action, people at these Redneck Olympics agree, London's got nothing on them...

Mike McKenna, Redneck Olympics participant: "I think we're way above them, they're right here, Redneck Olympics is way up here."

So whether you're here for the...

Kids: "Popping tires and everything!"

Bernard: "Cause we like to eat pig."

Don't expect to see the Olympic rings at these summer games.
