It was in woods, near Holliday Park, that 35-year-old Jeffrey Shawn Gebhardt, of Blairsville, Georgia went hunting with a friend, on Saturday, and it was in these same woods, after an extensive search, that police later found Gebhardt’s body.

Investigators with the Wilkes County Sheriff’S Office, with the help of a Georgia State Patrol helicopter, went looking for Gebhardt after he didn’t meet back up with his friend. Now, Sheriff’s Office investigators, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation,i are trying to find out how the man died.

We talked with investigators who told us they couldn’t release very much about their investigation, only telling us that the circumstances surrounding Gebhardt’s death made them suspecious.

And ,it could be days, even weeks, before police have any leads in this case. We do know that investigators have collected evidence from the scene, and that evidence is being processed. Gebhardt's body has been taken to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy.
