Just because Amanda Freeman is on the sidelines for most Wolfpack games doesn't mean she isn't a great athlete.
The Greenbrier High School senior is the first Scholar Athlete Award winner of the 2012-2013 school year.
Freeman holds a 90 grade point average while acting as a captain for both the varsity and competition cheerleading squad, takes multiple Advanced Placement classes, and to top it off, she is the student body president.
She says focus is what helps her get through a busy schedule and that focusing lets herself know she can do it and builds self confidence. Her parents, Dave and Teresa Freeman, say Amanda takes the responsibilities she has and runs with them. They never know her schedule or what appointments she has, but Amanda does it all herself.
As a leader for her cheerleading squad, many people look up to her and think highly of her. Greenbrier's head cheerleading coach, Nicole Muns, says Amanda "has a dream attitude." Muns says that you won't ever meet another girl with more spirit for Greenbrier High School and her team.
Amanda also looks to her faith to help her through everyday life.
"I'm reminded each Sunday and Wednesday what we're here for. That really helps me try to give out that vibe to people," Amanda says.
Muns adds that Amanda can't get out there to help enough and can't think of more ways to encourage school spirit.
Upon graduation, Amanda plans to study Early Childhood Education. She would like to attend either The University of Georgia, University of Florida, or Florida State University.
