Captain Scott Peebles tells WJBF News Channel 6, at this time, Richmond County Sheriff's Office investigators are attempting to locate 26-year-old Travis Lorenzo Berrian for questioning only in the murder investigation of Angela Brooks and Nancy Cushman.

Berrian is only a person of interest, and is not a suspect in this case. Berrian may have information which could aid investigators. Berrian is not wanted for any crime. He is described as being 5'9" tall and weighs about 170 pounds.

Anyone with information concerning Berrian’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1080.

Captain Scott Peebles, of the Richmond County Sheriff's Office (RCSO), tells WJBF News Channel 6, Thursday morning, at about 2:24 a.m., deputies responded to a call reporting that two bodies were in a wooded lot at the corner of Twiggs Street and Laney Walker Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found two deceased females, who suffered from at least one gunshot wound each. The victims have been positively identified as 19-year-old Angela Miesha Brooks, of Warrenville, SC and 17-year-old Nancy Lubell Cushman, of Beech Island, SC.

Cushman’s car, a 1999 Cadillac Escalade, was discovered abandoned on 2nd Street and Telfair Street, shortly after the bodies were discovered.

The victims were last seen around 12:26 a.m., Thursday morning, on East Boundary, and both women were in the car at that time. They were in the company of an unknown black male.

It is believed that both women were murdered where their bodies were discovered. It is also believed, based on evidence recovered, that the suspect(s) likely drove the victim’s Escalade from the scene of the murder to the location where it was found abandoned.

Anyone with information concerning this case is asked to contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1080. A reward is being offered and callers may remain anonymous. There is no specific amount on the reward at this time.

Autopsies will be performed on both bodies Friday morning at the Augusta GBI Lab.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
