The United States of America Cycling National Championship Criterium races are creating a steady stream of traffic for downtown Augusta businesses.
“It doesn't bother me at all, you know. Broad Street is busy, but just to have the event here, and all of the people it really doesn't bother me, just to have the people here I think it's great for downtown Augusta," said Sit A Spell coffee shop owner Jennifer Tutt.
Tutt says all these spinning wheels are giving her cash register a workout.
"I can actually go home, right now, and not open up for another two weeks because revenue and business has been that great," says Tutt.
Tutt says she's grateful for downtown events like the Criterium because the boost in business means more stability for her shop. “I am loving it. Ever since 6:30, we have been selling nonstop. So many people have been coming in,” she says.
And, she's not the only business getting ahead in the race
“It’s actually brought in more business. Every event we have here in downtown Augusta, we actually get prepared for it. we make sure our customers will be happy," says business worker Franklin Plather.
