Daughter Excluded As Suspect In Aiken Teacher's Murder

By Joy Howe

Aiken, SC -- According to Lt. David Turno, Aiken Department of Public Safety (ADPS) detectives continue to aggressively investigate the murder of Mrs. Ann Fox Smith, of Aiken.

Although some material collected from the crime scene has been analyzed, there is more to be processed, and may take weeks, if not months, to complete.

At this time, only Lauren Smith, 21, a daughter of Mrs. Smith, has been excluded in the death of her mother.

Other family members have retained legal counsel since the early stages of the investigation. Those family members have not spoken with investigators since and cannot be excluded from this investigation as it moves forward.

In addition to Lauren Smith, detectives have excluded numerous friends, co-workers, and acquaintances.

Detectives know that it is diffucult to come forward with information, but if you have information, you may be the only one in a postition to help prevent another individual from being injured or killed.
