Dee Griffin is a Digital Journalist at WJBF News Channel 6.
After leaving WJBF News Channel 6 a few years ago to pursue other opportunities, Dee returns to the WJBF family as a special assignment reporter and fill-in anchor.
Dee is a native of Augusta, Georgia. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. She then earned her Masters of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
Dee has spent more than 15 years reporting and anchoring news for news stations in Mississippi, Georgia, Connecticut, Missouri and Tennessee. Most recently, she was a main anchor at the ABC affiliate in Memphis, Tennessee. During her tenure in television news, Dee has been honored with many awards including "Best On-Air Personality," "Best Series Reporting," "Best Feature Reporting", and named "One of the 50 Women Who Make a Difference" by Memphis Women's Magazine. She has also been awarded the "Jesse Turner Sr. Community Service Award" by the Memphis Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. Dee was also named one of the "Top 40 under 40" by the Memphis Business Journal.
She spends countless hours volunteering for local organizations and serving people throughout the country. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, the Links, Incorporated, the Junior League, and the National Association of Black Journalists. Dee has also served as a local spokesperson for various non-profit organizations including the American Heart Association's "Go Red for Women" annual campaign.
For seven years, she hosted the "Dee Griffin 5k run/walk" to raise funds for LeMoyne-Owen College, in Memphis, and the UNCF.
