Jennie Montgomery co-anchors WJBF News Channel 6's weekday newscasts at 5pm, 6pm, and 11pm.
Jennie has anchored the evening news at WJBF since 1997. A native of Spartanburg, South Carolina, she graduated from Guilford College with a degree in Psychology.
An award winning broadcast journalist, she earned a prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for her documentary on short term medical mission trips, "Mission to Nicaragua".
Jennie has been recognized three times by the Georgia Association of Broadcasters as Best On-Air Personality. The GAB has also awarded Jennie a GABBY for Best Documentary and a Merit Award for Best Series). She has also been honored with the Best Female Anchor award by the National Academy of Television Journalists.
Over the years, readers of Augusta Magazine have voted Jennie Best News Anchor and Best TV Hair! She was the 2006 recipient of the Augusta West Rotary Club's Louis Harris Media Award for outstanding professional and civic contributions to the Augusta community. She's also been honored with the Alumni Excellence Award from Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Besides anchoring the evening newscasts on WJBF News Channel 6, Jennie also writes a monthly parenting column, "Mom2Mom", for Augusta Family Magazine. Parenting Publications of America has honored her work with the both the Bronze and Silver Awards for Humor Columnists.
Jennie's a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She is very involved in the Augusta community through volunteer work with non-profits. She is a member of Women in Philanthropy of the CSRA and sits on the board of the Salvation Army Augusta Area Command.
She and her husband, Scott, have 3 children, two dogs and a cat. Jennie is a HUGE Gino Vannelli fan and she enjoys art projects, puzzles, and traveling. You can read her column, "Mom2Mom", each month in the Augusta Family Magazine.
