NC WEATHER: Heat, humidity return, stay for Labor Day

RALEIGH, N.C. - Heat and more humidity will be around for the Labor Day weekend.  A couple of showers or storms will also be possible as we head into next week including Labor Day. 

With a stationary front hanging around central North Carolina today, skies will be cloudy to partly sunny.  There could be an isolated shower or storm late in the afternoon.  It will be more humid with highs in the upper 80s. Areas south of the Triangle and south of the stationary front will be warmer with highs in the lower 90s under partly sunny skies.

Tonight will be partly cloudy with a just a slight risk of an evening shower or storm.  Overnight will be muggy with a low of 69.

The front that will divide our state today will wash out for Saturday and skies will be partly sunny with highs up to 90.  Sunday will be partly sunny and hot with highs in the lower 90s.  There could be an isolated late day shower or storm on Sunday.  Labor Day will have some clouds and sun with a couple showers or storms possible in the afternoon and evening.  Highs on Monday will be once again right around 90. 

Tuesday and Wednesday will be partly sunny with a chance of a shower or storm.  Temperatures will stay above normal with a highs from around 90 to the lower 90s.  Wednesday will be partly sunny with a slight risk of a shower or storm and highs in the upper 80s

Hurricane Cristobal is racing northeastward, staying away from any land in the north Atlantic Ocean.  The storm is moving at 49 mph and Cristobal is expected to lose its tropical characteristics later today and merge with another low near Greenland and lose its identity.
