GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A suspect has been killed and a Greenville officer has been hurt in a shooting outside police headquarters. Interim Police Chief Mike Gambrell said the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The shooting happened about 10:30 p.m. Monday after a man tried to enter the Greenville The County Law Enforcement Center.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - An organization that supports transgender rights is planning to sue South Carolina after the state wouldn't issue a driver's license to a 16-year-old boy unless he took off his makeup. The Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund said it will file a federal lawsuit against the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles on Tuesday.

CHAPIN, S.C. (AP) - Politicians from all around South Carolina came to Chapin to walk in the town's annual Labor Day parade. The parade has been a traditional stop for politicians with just over two months left before the general election.

ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a 9-year-old and a 5-month-old boy have died after a boat capsized on Lake Hartwell. The Anderson County Coroner's Office told local media outlets that the older boy, Christian Henderson, was pulled from the water and could not be resuscitated, while divers found the baby, Timothy Dragoo, about four hours after the boat flipped. Neither child was wearing a life jacket.
