"Star Wars" Franchise Fans Get First Look At New Movie

NEW YORK (ABC NEWS) - It's a story 40 years in the making! The trailer for the newest "Star Wars" movie was released Thursday. ABC News' Adrienne Bankert has more on the film.

Just a day after "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", the biggest movie in domestic box office history, was released on DVD and streaming video, we got a sneak peak of how the adventures of Han Solo, Luke, and Leia all began.

Before Luke Skywalker, there was Jyn Erso.

"At the beginning, she is someone who thinks you have to do everything on your own... She is... is... scared of letting people in..." She is used to just pushing through life completely? ahhh alone and what she finds through the film is that actually to become a great leader.. To become a true leader, you have to be able to work with other people and be vulnerable with other people," said Felicity Jones, who portrays Jyn Arso.

The newest "Star Wars" film, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story", is set before the first Star Wars that was released "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope", in 1977.

Remember, it was Princess Leia who led the charge to destroy the Death Star. "Rogue One" gives the history behind the intergalactic weaponry.

Disney has promoted "Rogue One" as a stand-alone movie, distinctly different and yet loyal to the "Star Wars" feel that fans have come to love.

"Rogue One" is set to be released in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016.

Are you excited for the new film?
