Las Vegas police say they've made a second arrest in the robbery and beating of NFL player Javon Walker. Police say 40-year-old Deshawn Thomas was arrested Monday in Las Vegas on kidnapping, robbery and conspiracy charges.

 

Imprisoned quarterback Michael Vick is seeking bankruptcy protection, saying he owes between $10 million and $50 million to creditors.

 

Former University of Georgia diver Chris Colwill will compete in two events in the Beijing Olympics. Colwill, who was named Monday to compete in the 3-meter springboard and the synchronized 3-meter, adds to the list of Georgia swimmers, divers and coaches in the Olympics.

 

South Carolina has hired away the assistant coach credited for recruiting the players that turned North Carolina into a college baseball power in recent years. Chad Holbrook is leaving the Tar Heels, where he played in the early '90s and coached for 15 years.

 

Georgia freshman Jeremy Jacob has decided to transfer after a foot injury limited him to only six games as a freshman. Georgia coach Dennis Felton said Monday the 6-foot-7 Jacob, from Baton Rouge, La., wants a fresh start at another school "where he can play a more prominent role than he believes he will play at Georgia."

 

Hiroki Kuroda took a perfect game into the eighth inning and settled for a one-hitter, leading Los Angeles to a 3-0 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Monday night. The win moved the Dodgers in a tie for first in the NL West with idle Arizona.

 

Pittsburgh Steelers chairman Dan Rooney and his son, team president Art Rooney II, want to buy Dan Rooney's brothers' shares in the team. The team says some of Dan Rooney's four brothers want to focus their business efforts elsewhere.

 

The Augusta GreenJackets (41-28, 14-4) began a four game series against the Lakewood BlueClaws (38-32, 10-8) on Monday night, and came way with a 7-6 win, despite a furious rally in the ninth by Lakewood. Starter Chance Corgan worked a career high seven shutout innings and Augusta's Taylor Creswell finished 4-for-5 with a pair of RBIs.
