Augusta, GA -- It's a wish come true for Michael Walden and his family. Michael just found out that he got accepted to Yale, Harvard, Cornell and Princeton Universities..

Michel Walden, going to Yale: "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and all those things shall be added onto you. I feel like, as long as you keep God first, anything is obtainable. It's never to late to set a goal and strive for that goal."

It's a goal that he set for himself as a young child. His parents say they always knew that their son was destined for greatness.

Brenda Walden, mother: "Not only is he studious, he's fun. He's 17, but his level of maturity at such a young age is just insurmountable."

Michael has a maintained a 4.0 G.P.A. throughout his years at A.R. Johnson Magnet School. He is the valedictorian, a member of the National Honor Society and directs the schools broadcast news program. His parents say, when Michael is not in his books, he's relaxing like an average teenager.

Brenda Walden: "He loves basketball. He will take the time out to play basketball. That relaxes him. He loves Play Station."

Out of the four universities, Michael decided to attend Yale. He plans to major in biomedical engineering with a minor in political science.

Michael: "When I visited Yale, it kind of reminded of the the Georgia hospitality. I mean, everybody is very personable. It was really community-based."

His parents say the journey was not always easy.

Brenda Walden: "No matter where your child is, don't give up on them. Start fresh, every child is different."

As for Michael, he gives other students a word of advice.

Michael: "Stay focused, work hard, set a goal, strive for that goal. Everything is possible. Have a good attitude to everything you are doing. Attitude determines your altitude."

According to Yale's admissions office, about 23,000 students applied for admission, with less than 2,000 accepted. Michael is the only student in the city to be granted admission.
